A Girls Cheat Sheet To: Eyelash Enhancers!

18 Oct

The cosmetic industry is flooded with all these wonderful products to help our lashes look sexy, longer, and fuller.  With so many choices, what’s a girl supposed to do!  Here’s our quick guide to help you determine which option is best for you!

I’m wearing Chloe by Lash Royalty. Available online for $15.

False Eyelashes by Lash Royalty, Shu Uemura, MAC, etc.

Pros:
  1. Easy to apply, remove, and semi-permanent.
  2. Available in many styles, depending on the look you want to achieve (natural, sexy, or somewhere in between).
  3. No silly side effects, unless you’re allergic to the glue you purchase separately.

Cons:

  1. Finding the right style that compliments your eyes.
  2. Learning how to apply it evenly.
  3. Most are one time wear, because the band is thin.  Lash Royalty and Shu Uemura offer high quality lashes, and can be reused several times.  Hey, Oprah does it too!
  4. $ Quality eyelashes will run you $15-$25 per set.

Eyelash Extensions @ the salon.

Pros:

  1. Long and natural lashes, semi-permanent.
  2. Lasts 3-4 weeks.  Varies from person to person.
  3. Dramatic difference in only 1 – 2 hr. appointment.

Cons:

  1. With long term wear, many clients reported their natural lashes falling out.
  2. Requires a technician to apply the lash extensions.
  3. Lash extensions can fall out, leaving an ugly uneven pattern of lashes.
  4. $$ Costly (Each application session ranges from $150 and up)  Prices may vary.

Eyelash Growth Serum by Latisse.

Pros:

  1. Clinically proven results.
  2. More growth, resulting in extra thickness and/or length.
  3. Easy to apply, don’t have to worry about removal.

Cons:

  1. Permanent side effects (increased brown pigmentation of the colored part of eye).
  2. Itching, redness, and/or dryness of the eyes.
  3. Once you stop using the serum, your lashes will eventually go back to its original state.
  4. $$$ Expensive  (1 month supply for $120/60 applications/30 per eye)  Prices may vary.

*other brands of eyelash serums do not require a prescription, and side effects may vary*

See Why Lash Royalty Lashes Are The Best

20 Oct

Even if you already have long natural lashes, you can still benefit from using Lash Royalty products.  In the picture above, you will notice with the addition of our Chloe lashes, extra fullness and length is instantly achieved, while maintaining a very natural look.  Michelle mentioned to us that the lashes looked very realistic and felt lightweight, contrary to other lashes she has tried in the past.

It literally took minutes to apply the Chloe lashes, and Michelle was camera ready for the press, interviews, and the red carpet.

In the coming weeks, we will post candid (and unedited) photos of our lashes, versus some of the most well known brands on the market.  You will clearly see the difference, why Lash Royalty is the preferred brand for industry professionals, red carpet events, and weddings.

The #1 question we receive is why Lash Royalty false eyelashes are so different from other brands currently on the market.  We figured the best way to answer this question, is to launch our own Lash Experiment Series, so you can see the difference!

MUA Spotlight: Naomi Lynn (Mac Pro Artist)

23 Jul

Naomi is an absolute sweetheart, with gorgeous eyes, and definitely has the “midas touch” when it comes to makeup artistry.  Did I mention she has huge makeup case filled with every shade of eyeshadow, lipstick, gloss, and blushes you can think of!  And, it’s all MAC baby!

Just days ago, Naomi sent us some photos wearing Luxe-2 by Lash Royalty.  We think they look natural and absolutely fabulous on her.  She also had some really nice things to say about our lashes, and coming from her, that’s a huge compliment.  Naomi was kind enough to spare some time for a quick interview with us.  Enjoy and make sure to follow Naomi on Twitter .

Tell us a little about your experience, and how you got started in this industry.

First off, I’m 22, and have been a makeup artist for a little over 3 years.  I have worked for Too Faced Cosmetics, Benefit Cosmetics, Lancome, Prescriptives, Estee Lauder, and MAC!

My career as a makeup artist started at age 19. I earned a job working at an Estee Lauder count in Macy’s.  Since I was just 10, I knew that I wanted to be a makeup artist.  I was OBSESSED with brows and lashes!  After spending a year with Estee Lauder, I started to pursue other interests, and also became a Freelance Artist for several cosmetic lines.  In November of 2009, I fulfilled what seemed like a life long goal, and joined the MAC team as a Pro Artist.  It has been a challenging journey, but I am most definitely enjoying the ride!

What is your secret weapon, or “signature look”.

Definitely a smokey eye, because it’s a classic and sultry look that oozes confidence and sex appeal.

Do share you favorite beauty must have item.

MY SPIKED brow pencil from MAC!  Brows are the key to creating the tone of your look.  Your brows “form your Mona Lisa”, as I like to say.

Favorite lipstick shade.

Anything bright, bold, and fun!  I love REBEL and GIRL ABOUT TOWN from MAC.

Favorite lipgloss:

Hands down, Viva Glam 5 from MAC.  It’s the “goes with everything” kind of gloss.

Before you go, do share a makeup tip or secret!

My ultimate makeup tip:  Square brows are a beauty no, no!  Square brows = angry brows.  Try a more rounded brow, for a softer look.

Secret tip #1: If your brows have trouble growing, try some Rogaine on them!

Secret tip #2:  If you’re in between eyebrow waxes, use a natural looking concealer just under the brow, to hide those little hairs!

Quick, Fun, and Fashionable DIY Manicure with Minx

3 Jun

I love doing my own mani’s & pedi’s, so jumped at the opportunity to try out the new instant manicure set by Sephora & Opi.  I’m a huge fan of nail art, so these simple to apply nail decals were definitely a DIY quick fix.  I picked out the black and white stripes, and was able to apply them without any major set backs.  No need to worry about drying time at all.  Btw, I just finished working a private event over @ the London Hotel in West Hollywood, and all the gals were loving my nails!

Application time:  20 minutes

Tools you will need:  Nail file, buffer & scissors

Why we love it:  Fast & easy nail art mani

Cons:  Package says only lasts 1-2 days =(

Price:  $15 per pack of 16 decals, but if you have petite nails like me, you can always cut them in 1/2.  =)

Easy to follow “how to” instructions:

Step 1:  Gently buff nail bed for a smooth surface.

Step 2:  Clean off any oils or lotions off each nail, with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol.

Step 3:  Gently peel off nail decal, and size it up with your nail.  Trim off any excess, and gently rub to remove any bubbles.

Step 4:  Use nail file, to remove excess off the tip (file downwards)

Step 5:  Repeat with all 10 fingers and voila!

Special Event Information:

For you lucky gals that live in LA, Sephora (@ Century City) will be having a special event on Saturday, June 5, 2010.  They will have nail artists there to apply  Chic Prints nail decals on you!

How To: Perfectly Blend Your Makeup, With This Magical Brush.

27 May

Let me introduce you to the MAC 182, Buffer Brush.  The MAC BB, is the magic tool thats smoothly buffs and blends in your bronzer and blush.  You can use the MAC BB bare, and just swirl it over the areas where you have applied bronzer and/or blush.  You will instantly notice how soft and natural your bronzer and/or blush will look on your skin.

For the ultimate finish to a night out, gently swipe your MAC BB in translucent powder, and gently buff over your bronzer/or blush areas.  This will help set your makeup, leaving a gorgeous airbrushed look to your skin!
